The table has a bow front and serpentine sides; a small compartment matching the shape of the table sits on top of the main surface. This upper compartment has a solid mahogany top, figured birch veneered sides, and a single drawer. The drawer front is veneered with figured birch, outlined with inlaid stringing, and has a round metal knob. Quarter-round molding joins the compartment to the table. The table top is solid mahogany with checkered banding along the front edge. The sides, fronts of the front posts, and drawer have branch birch veneered panels bordered by roped stringing. The drawer extends the width of the front and has two round knobs. The bottom of the entire skirt is edged with inlaid roped stringing. The sides, under the veneer, are constructed of three pieces of horizontally laminated wood. The white pine backboard is tenoned into the back posts. The legs are turned and reeded, with turned rings at the top; the legs taper towards the feet. The feet are of an unusual turned design. Stoneman suggests that the feet may have been cut down, with the flare at the bottom being the start of the long bulbous foot found on some Salem pieces; however, Elder and Stokes suggest that the proportions of the table contradict that theory (the table is essentially as tall as it is wide, and it is about half as deep as it is tall and wide)."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/20/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Period inscription on inside bottom of the large drawer: [Mary [?Ǫ] Gerrish Kittery]."},{"label":"Basis of Materials","value":"Antiques 39 (1941) and Stoneman (1959) list the figured veneer as satinwood.
