A survey of the Boston Directories and Ancestry records does not yield any indication of a Boston address or occupational details related to the maker. The clocks inscribed with White's name resemble clocks produced by the Willard Brothers, and if we could assume his active dates are accurate (c.1790-1810), then White would be a contemporary of Simon Willard (1753-1848). Because of the inscribed dial face and style of the clock, there is little reason to doubt maker or date attribution, but it cannot be proven beyond presumption that White worked alongside the Willard brothers."},{"label":"Subjects (AAT)","value":["Tall case clocks","Floor clocks"]},{"label":"Subjects","value":["Longcase clocks"]},{"label":"Bibliography","value":"Catalog: Israel Sack, Inc., American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, vol. 2 (Washington, D.C.: Highland House Publishers, 1969): 402, pl. 1016. The molded, arched hood is surmounted by fretwork, which is braced by four plinths, each supporting a ball-and-spire finial. The arched hood door is molded and inlaid and flanked by brass capped columns. The door has a locking mechanism as indicated by the presence of a keyhole surround to the left side. The dial face features hour and minute hands, with an inset dial for tracking seconds. The clock shows both Roman and Arabic numerals. Filigree decorates the spandrels. [J. White / Boston] is inscribed on the face. The lunette is painted in pastel colors with a rural scene. S-curved and cove molding separates the hood from the trunk. Quarter columns flank the veneered trunk door, which is rectangular and bordered in bolection molding and inlay. A keyhole surround is situated on the left side. Beveled and cavetto molding separates the trunk from the base, which is veneered and outlined with inlay. The base has decorative molding along the bottom and sits on four, arched bracket feet."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/20/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Inscription on dial: [J.
