The rectangular back has a gentle serpentine curve along the top edge. The trapezoidal seat has evidence of corner blocks. The seat and back of the chair have been recovered and are now upholstered in a striped, yellow textile. There is braiding at the front corners of the seat surrounding the tops of the front legs and cording along the edges of the chair back. The front legs are turned and tapered with a single ring turning at the base. The front legs are attached to the seat rail with mortise and tenon joints. Rectangular tablets are inlaid above the front legs and surrounded with unidentified light and dark wood stringing. Unidentified light wood stringing forms an arch above the inlay tablets. The inlay tablet on the right side of the chair is badly damaged. The inlay tablet on the left side of the chair appears to be replaced. The top of the right leg has been repaired with three dowels along the side of the leg and one dowel at the front of the leg. The left leg has been repaired with one dowel along the left side of the left leg. The rear legs are squared and raked back. Curved arms and curved, S-shaped arm supports. Unidentified light wood stringing on the fronts of the arm supports."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"5/26/2015"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"None found"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Mahogany; Maple"},{"label":"Style","value":["Federal"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range based on characteristics of design and construction."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1790 - D:00 M:00 Y:1815"},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Vicinity of Boston, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Other Name","value":"Martha Washington chair; Upholstered armchair"},{"label":"Object Type","value":["Chair"]},{"label":"Object Use","value":"Seating furniture"},{"label":"Category","value":"Furniture"},{"label":"Title","value":"Lolling chair"},{"label":"Date Modified","value":"7/16/2018"}],"description":"Lolling chair","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/553f02cc-46ff-4543-93fe-1e3f0499e8c3/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"dapc_2014-0170-001","height":1200,"width":924,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/e96324b2-fc35-4ae6-b8ee-7d17da6d64c6/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/e96324b2-fc35-4ae6-b8ee-7d17da6d64c6","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1200,"width":924},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/553f02cc-46ff-4543-93fe-1e3f0499e8c3/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/e96324b2-fc35-4ae6-b8ee-7d17da6d64c6/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/553f02cc-46ff-4543-93fe-1e3f0499e8c3/canvas/_2","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"dapc_2014-0170-002","height":1200,"width":909,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/dba2c474-64b7-486f-af67-339b610329be/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/dba2c474-64b7-486f-af67-339b610329be","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1200,"width":909},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/553f02cc-46ff-4543-93fe-1e3f0499e8c3/canvas/_2","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/dba2c474-64b7-486f-af67-339b610329be/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/e96324b2-fc35-4ae6-b8ee-7d17da6d64c6/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/logo"}
