The left and right sides of the case are each composed of one board. There is an inlaid star at the center of each case side; some wood has been lost from the star. The case sides are outlined with unidentified light wood inlay. The back of the desk is composed of one board that is nailed to the case. The slant-front writing surface or lid is composed of one board with breadboard ends. The exterior surface of the lid is decorated with an inlaid star and unidentified light wood stringing at the top and bottom. The desk opens to reveal eight pigeonholes with serpentine fronts and shaped dividers.    The serpentine case front is fitted with one serpentine drawer. The solid drawer front has unidentified light wood stringing along its molded edges. The drawer sides come to full height. The drawer bottom is composed of one board with the grain running front to back. Dovetail joints attach the sides of the drawer to the drawer front and drawer back. The bottom of the drawer is let into a groove in the front, nailed to the sides, and nailed to the underside of the back. The top front rail is nailed into place and the bottom front rail is dovetailed. The bottom front rail has cove molding. The case has four bracket feet.
