The top frame consists of four cross ribs fixed to the tester?ÇÖs side rails. The headboard is flat-arched with sloped corners. The head posts and the foot posts are identically carved and turned at top. The upper sections are cylindrical with reel turning and reeded and swelled shafts. On the foot posts, spool turning separates the upper shaft from a vase-shaped section with a sheaf-of-wheat motif and then additional spool turning. Where the posts join with the frame rails, the posts are chamfered and on the front and side flat edges are engraved bolt hole covers. At the headboard, the head posts are cylindrically-turned.
