Atop the hood is a sarcophagus top with three reel- and chalice-and-spire-turned finials positioned at center, at the peak of the pediment, and at the front corners mounted to plinths. There is splayed molding around the base of the pediment, above blind fretwork and an arched and molded cornice. Additional blind fretwork decorates the tympanum with splayed molding conforming to the astragal curve of the cornice just above a framed and glazed tombstone door, which has a brass escutcheon with a keyhole on the left side. There are four stop-fluted columns with brass capitals at the corners of the hood: the front two are free-standing and the back two are engaged. The hood has arched sidelights. The door opens to reveal a composite brass and silvered dial with an applied chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and Arabic seconds numerals. Engraved between each hour gradation is a fleur-de-lis. The spandrels are decorated with applied cast gilt ornament. Inside the chapter ring is an applied seconds dial, and a calendar aperture surrounded by engraved ornament. In the lunette is an engraved boss that reads: [Willm : Clagget / BOSTON]. Stepped and cove molding forms the base of the hood and the top of the trunk. A quarter-round-molded hinged door with an astragal top and a brass escutcheon with a keyhole on the left side of the door. The bottom of the trunk has quarter-round and cove molding. The bottom section of the case is stepped. Square-bracket feet stand on flat plinths. According to Skinner, Inc., some repairs have been made to the sarcophagus top, around the dial to the cast ornament, and to the cove molding below the hood on the right. A small section of the backboard has been replaced, as has glass in the sidelights that was cracked and a new platform has been added to the center plinth."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"12/4/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Engraved boss: [Willm : Clagget / BOSTON].
