The hood has an arched molded pediment with three turned and gilded urn-and-spire finials on plinths, carved blind fretwork in the tympanum, sidelights, free-standing fluted columns are the front corners and turned quarter columns at the back corners. The hood has a glazed door with an astragal top and on the left side is a shaped escutcheon. The door opens to reveal a composite brass dial with winding holes and an applied chapter ring with Roman numerals indicating hours and Arabic numerals indicating minutes. Cast ornament is applied to the spandrels and lunette. In the lunette is an applied name boss engraved: [Gawen Brown Boston]. Inside the chapter ring there is a calendar aperture. Pierced and scrolled minute and hour hands track time along with a sweep seconds hand. The top of the trunk has cove and beveled molding. The hinged trunk door has an astragal top and molding around the edges. Flanking the doors are fluted quarter columns. The base has cavetto molding at the top and an applied baseboard with an ovolo molded edge. The bracket feet are very short and have likely been cut down."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/20/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"There is not a photograph of the engraving, but according to DAPC record, the boss in the lunette is transcribed as: [Gawen Brown Boston]."},{"label":"Materials","value":"Mahogany; White pine; Unidentified metal"},{"label":"Style","value":["Queen Anne"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Approximate date of 1755 provided by Bernard and S.
