The top forms an acorn shape, the waist is concave and then takes a bell shape at the bottom. The cutout glass window at top reveals the clock face, which denotes time via Roman numerals with a minute and hour hands flanked by winding holes. Above the dial is stenciled: [WILLIAM BEALS / BOSTON].  The case door is hinged. The upper part of the case door (with the dial window) is divided from the bottom by molding and the bottom section is decorated with veneered foliate designs.
