DAPC numbers 1985-0573, 1985-0574, and 1985-0575 were erroneously assigned to this piece."},{"label":"Description","value":"Pierced splat-back chair made of walnut, one of a set of six.  The crest, from the ovolo center, is s-curved to the rolled-back ears. The crest curves and is carved to give it the smooth appearance of being continuous with the side stiles. The pierced splat between the stiles has three vertical cutouts with ovolo tops and two-thirds of the way down the splat are circular inserts. The splat is fixed to a trapezoidal shoe on the rear seat rail. The trapezoidal seat frame has a flared front and a tapered back. The cushion seat is upholstered in a dark fabric. When in the frame, it sits on corner blocks. The side and front seat rails are nailed to the front legs. Bracing the legs are four stretchers in almost a box shape. The front stretcher is positioned above the height of the two side stretchers.
