The chair back is flat, rectangular, and raked back. The crest rail is carved in two sections: a raised strip curves downward into two scrolled ears and below a pierced oval surrounds two symmetrical scrolls. A series of abstract curved carvings surround the oval piercing. The back top and side edges of the crest rail are chamfered. The rear stiles are continuous with the back legs and are composed of a single piece of wood. They are turned with cone and urn shapes at the top and an outward tapering cylinder below, flanked with decorative rings. The stiles are mortise and tenoned to the crest rail, lower slat, and seat. Between the stiles, a splat frames rectangular caning that continues onto the edges of the crest rail. The caning is rounded at the top. On each side of the caning, the splat is carved with an undulating shallow molding. These pieces may have been replaced.  The seat is trapezoidal, framing a caned sitting surface. The seat rails are mortise and tenoned to the rear stiles at the back and mortise and tenoned to each other at the front. They are pierced to support the caning. A thin inner frame is screwed and glued into the interior face of the seat rails. It does not support the caning, which appears to be replaced on both the splat and seat. The chair has four baluster-turned legs with cylindrical sections in the back and urn-shaped sections in the front. The front legs are mortise and tenoned into the seat rails from below. The chair has H-form baluster-turned stretchers and two additional turned stretchers running between the front legs and rear legs. They are mortise and tenoned and pegged into the legs. Only the left and rear stretchers appear to be original. The front feet are turned with straight stump feet at the back. Small strips of wood have been added to stabilize the bottoms of the feet. A major insect infestation has left a number of small holes throughout the wood, with large chunks missing from the stretchers, legs, and feet. The chair was likely disassembled and reconstructed at some point.  The seat squab is embroidered with a green, pink, and yellow crewel work design depicting a foliate scene with a dog, bird, and stag."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"1/31/2017"},{"label":"Marks,
