(147.6 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Mahogany Empire-style tester bed with white pine as a secondary wood. The frame of the bed is mortise and tenoned together with screws at the posts holding it together. There is a wooden platform set into the frame with canvas nailed to the frame. There are previous nail holes in the pine frame, which suggests that there was another type of mattress support prior to the runners present in addition to the wooden platform.  The headboard is attached to the posts. It is yoke shaped, with curved edges and a half round molding around the top. There are screw holes in the headboard for curtain hooks. The plain head posts are continuous with the legs and have a square cross-section. The two back therm legs are mortise and tenoned from each side, with screws on each of the outer corners of the legs.  The highly decorative foot posts are continuous with the legs and have a round cross-section at the top and a square cross-section where they attach to the frame. The top of the foot posts tapers with reeding. Below is a wider section of narrower reeding that curves downward to a rounded bottom above a downward turned leaf carving. Below that is a plain turned section, which separates it from a cup-shaped section with four sections of four layers of upward pointing acanthus leaves. Below that is a turned ring above a spool shape with double rings above a cylindrical fluted section with double rings below and a plain turned section below. The foot posts are squared where they meet the footboard. The two outer faces of each post are veneered with mahogany with cock-bead molding and an applied half sphere at the center where the frame is attached to hide the screw holes. Below the rectangular section the leg transitions into a cylinder and then the same double ring, spool, ring as above the rectangular section. A downward turned reeding terminates into a tapered cylindrical section that ends in a large ring with bead molding at the top and bottom. There is a small cylinder at the bottom, where the castor feet are attached. The wheels of the castors are made of wood.  The rectangular tester frame is veneered with mahogany and has with a cove molding along the top edge and a very large bead molding along the bottom edge. There is an applied rectangular veneer piece in the center of each side of the tester. Each corner of the tester is turret-shaped with the same molding as the tester frame and a circular decorative element attached with nails underneath.
