The desktop is rectangular with rounded corners, and it is panel framed with at least four recessed boards forming the central section. The recessed section is also faced with red baize surrounded by a Greek key edging. It is significantly worn and likely original. The desktop has overhanging edges on all sides terminating in a glued cove and half-round molding. Four braces run from front to back on the underside of the desktop. The top boards are likely attached to these braces with a tongue and groove construction while the braces are mortise and tenoned to braces running horizontally across the frame. The desk frame is rectangular with rounded corners, and it is mortise and tenoned together. It holds one wide drawer at the front faced with solid wood and surrounded with a cove molding. The drawer back is slightly lower than the sides, which are full height and constructed with dovetails. The drawer bottom is a single board with grain running from side to side and chamfering at the sides where it is let into grooves. The drawer bottom is also screwed to the underside of the back. The drawer rests on runners with rounded edges projecting below the side of the desk frame. The top front rail is attached to the front legs of the desk with sliding dovetails and reinforced with a nail on the left leg. Two pine boards are mounted on top of the bottom front rail allowing the runners to end halfway back. The drawer also has guides at the top. The back rail of the desk frame is composed of three adjacent boards that are also likely tenoned together. The case has a lower frame below the desk frame that holds six drawers with three stacked vertically on either side. The front and back of the desk are identically panel framed with curved edges, and the recessed center sections are surrounded with beveled bead moldings. The bottom molding piece is missing on the front panel framed section. The front piece also has a curved bottom edge. The lower frame is constructed with pine boards running across the joints where it intersects with the upper desk frame and the edges of the recessed back and front panels. It is possible that this frame is tenoned to the desk frame and glued to the recessed panels in order to secure them. The drawer runners are also nailed to the tops of these inner frame boards. The drawers themselves are faced with solid wood and surrounded with glued cove molding. The drawer sides are full height and constructed with dovetails. The drawer bottoms are longer than the backs, serving as drawer stops. They are composed of single boards with grain running from side to side and chamfering at the front and sides. The bottoms are let into grooves in the sides and screwed to the undersides of the drawer backs. The top front rail is screwed to the underside of the desktop and the dividers and bottom front rail are attached with mortise and tenon joints. Both bottom front rails have two screw holes at the left corners. All of the drawers, including the wide front drawer, have hanging cross-shaped pulls. The desk has two front scrolled cabriole legs that are mortise and tenoned to the sides, reaching up to the desktop. The legs have scrolled carvings on their knee blocks and at their ends. They terminate in turned feet.
