(52.1 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Empire-style Klismos side chair composed of mahogany and mahogany veneer. The tablet back has a curved profile and double inward facing scroll carved ends. Three carved leaves extend inward from the scrolls at each end. In the center of the tablet is a raised rectangular panel of figured mahogany veneer with concave ends. The tablet is set into notches on the front of the vertical stiles. A lower splat composed of a central rosette with fan-shaped carving above and below spans the space between the vertical stiles. The fans are joined above and below to horizontal serpentine splats that terminate in scrolled ends with applied buttons. The vertical stiles are continuous with the rear legs and feature bead molding on the front edges with a rounded profile in between. The molding continues along the top of the side seat rails, over the knees, and down the front of the front legs. The rear sabre legs are flat-sawn with no adornment. The trapezoidal slip seat is framed by four rails mortise and tenoned into the legs. The front surface of the front rail has an applied strip of mahogany with five rows of horizontal bead molding. The slip seat is attached to the seat frame with a screw through the bottom of the rear rail. There is also a hole through the front rail but the screw is missing. The seat retains its original red velvet upholstery and horsehair padding but the webbing under the seat is damaged and the horsehair is falling out. The velvet on top of the seat features an impressed floral motif with a large round center medallion. Four mahogany corner blocks are attached to the interior of the seat rails with two screws each. There is some damage to the front of both knees and the seams have split along the right and left edges of the seat upholstery. The top surface of the red velvet upholstery has faded considerably and is almost brownish in appearance."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/26/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and
