The top of the hood has a continuous arched pediment surmounted by a fretted cornice and three brass, ball-and-spike finials on inlaid square columns. The front of the hood has a framed glass dial door that conforms to the rounded arch shape of the pediment. Two freestanding columns flank the dial door. Cove molding surrounds the front and sides of the top and base of the hood. The lunette above the painted metal dial features a moon phase and painted scene. Above the lunette is a dotted line and cross design. Columns are painted onto the dial door next to the tangible columns. Roman and Arabic numerals denote time via the clock face dial. In addition to the hour and minute hands, there is a small time-circle with Arabic numerals to track seconds. An arched display window, which is flanked by winding holes, tracks calendar days. Below the calendar aperture, [E. Taber] is inscribed on the dial face. Four corner spandrels outside the time circle are decorated with painted floral designs within gilt borders. Cove molding surrounds the front and sides at the top of the trunk, just below the hood. Flanked by tangible fluted quarter columns with brass capitals at the front edges as well as columns painted on to the case, the trunk door is molded, inlaid, and veneered with a lightwood oval set within a dark wood frame. The door is attached with two hinges and on the left side has a diamond-shaped escutcheon. Each side below the column bases is inlaid in a half-round shape. Thick cavetto molding transitions the trunk to the base section. The front surface of the base section is inlaid with swags and tassels in the form of bellflowers, surrounded by a lunette border. The skirt has triple ogee shaping above ogee bracket French feet. The pierced crest has been restored, according to Sotheby?ÇÖs auction catalog, (January 28-30, 1988), sale 5680, #1180."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/20/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Inscribed on dial: [E.
