The chest consists of two sections: a small upper section of two side-by-side drawers atop a deeper case of four drawers. The upper case is recessed from the front of the lower case. The case top has half-round molding around the edges and projecting turret front corners. The projecting corners serve as the uppermost sections of capitals for engaged columns that run the height of the upper case. The capitals are carved with acanthus leaves above rope-turned shafts. Each of the drawers in the upper case has two wooden knobs flanking a central keyhole. The design of the lower case mimics the upper case on a larger scale. The case top has half-round molding around the edges and projecting turret front corners. The projecting corners serve as the uppermost sections of capitals for engaged columns that run the height of the lower case. The capitals are carved with acanthus leaves above rope-turned shafts. Bead molding outlines the upper edge of the veneered case apron. The case has four short, turned legs; the front legs appear to be continuous with the turned columns. The legs are ring- turned with an inverted vase shaft. They terminate in turned feet. According to DAPC staff, the upper case may have originally had a shaped backboard (1979)."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"12/11/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Stencil not photographed, but is located on the middle of the top drawer.
