Atop the drumhead is a tiered chalice finial mounted to a plinth. A glass dial door with a metal trim opens to reveal a white painted sheet iron dial, which denotes time via Roman numerals and minute and hour hands and has a winding hole. Inscribed on the dial is: [D. MUNROE / BOSTON]. The throat is flanked by fretted, brass side arms. The throat and hinged pendulum box has round molding.  Although records do not provide a time, at some point in the lifespan of the object, the top finial was replaced.
