The back of the chair is rectangular with a curved profile. The rectangular tablet at the top of the back has squared edges. The tablet and a horizontal slat are decorated with veneer panels in raised relief. The rear stiles are tenoned into the tablet, curve dramatically above the seat and are continuous with the back legs. The chair has a trapezoidal slip seat with replaced upholstery. Four corner blocks are nailed into place using modern nails, and the back two corner blocks are beveled so as not to show past the legs. Mill-sawing marks are visible on the corner blocks. The seat is supported by four sabre legs, which are attached to the seat rail with mortise and tenon joints.
