The back is slightly trapezoidal with a flat profile, serpentine crest rail, and pointed shoulders. The rear stiles are made of one piece of wood and continuous with the back legs. The splat is a pierced basket design on the bottom with interlocking curved lines at the top. The backs of the stiles and crest rail are curved. The splat is tenoned into a shoe with a cove molding on the front. The shoe is nailed to the seat rail. The trapezoidal seat frame has a slip seat covered in needlework executed by Rose Nichols. The corner blocks appear to be replaced. There are two incised lines of bead molding on the seat rail. The front Marlborough legs have bead molding along the outer edge and chamfering along the inner edges. The rear stump legs are chamfered along the inner edges and have raked back feet. The legs are mortise and tenoned and pegged to the seat rails. Rectangular front, rear, and side stretchers are set flush with the outer edges of the legs.
