Crowning the drum head is an elongated acorn finial mounted to a plinth. The circular head has a hinged glass door and a brass bezel which opens by a latch. The dial has Roman numerals and hands with arrow tips and a winding hole. Inscribed on the dial: [Warranted by / William Cummens].    The front of the throat is wood framed by half-round molding. Brass sidearms flank the throat.    The pendulum box has a rectangular wooden door with central ovoid light. The outer edges of the door and opening for the light have half-round molding. Diagonal ridges run from the corners of the door toward the center. The door can be secured with a hook and latch.
