The upper case is comprised of two forward-opening cabinet doors and an unfolding writing surface. Decorative molding lines the top and sides of the upper case. A band of veneer wraps around the top. The cabinet doors have an outer light wood veneer rectangular panel and a square dark wood veneer panel. The panels are framed in inlay. The right cabinet door has a circular escutcheon. The writing leaf is hinged and veneered.  The lower case consists of four graduated drawers. The top drawer is flanked by lopers that support the writing leaf; each loper has a single knob. The drawers each have two oval bail pulls with u-shaped handles and a central, circular escutcheon with keyhole. Each drawer is framed in veneer. The bottom of the case is lined with checkered banding.
