The lid has two inlaid eight-point compass stars, each in a rectangular panel formed by two rows of double stringing. The interior has numerous small drawers, pigeonholes, and two document drawers. The case has four graduated drawers, each with quarter-round molded edges, two rectangular panels formed by two rows of double stringing, and matching urn-shaped escutcheons and bail pulls.
