The desk has a rectangular case, the sides of which are cut diagonally to allow the top edges of the sides and the side edges of the lid to form a flat surface when the hinged lid is open. There is satinwood inlay along the edges of the box. The lid and front of the box are outlined in string inlay with inverted corners. Bail pulls on circular plates are mounted to each side of the case.
