A rectangular fixed top of one board attached with wooden pegs forms the uppermost shelf. The top has overhanging edges on all sides with an integral half-round molding. There are side supports below the top with tapered sides and a groove below the top from a possibly missing piece. The legs are attached to these supports. The stand has four spindle legs, each with double ring turnings at top and bottom and two double ring turnings that divide the legs into three equal sections. The tops of the legs terminate in short, rectangular sections; the bottoms of the legs terminate in tall rectangular plinths. The legs are attached through the shelves, holding the piece together. A rectangular shelf with half-round edges is set around the double ring turnings marking the upper thirds of the legs. The bottom shelf, also rectangular with half-round edges, is structurally integral to the stand, made of one board with overhanging edges on all sides with an integral half-round molding. Two vertical dividers run the full depth of the bookstand between the middle and bottom shelves, dividing the lower section into three equal areas. The dividers are nailed in place at the top and bottom and have half-round edges. The stand rests on two pairs of ogee bracket feet connected by straight rails that span the depth of the shelf.
