The hood features a battered, sarcophagus top complemented by a brass gallery centering ball-and-spire finials on block plinths. Below the pediment is a molded arch and conforming glazed tombstone door with a lock flanked by brass mounted turned columns. Inside the door is a composite brass tombstone dial with a subsidiary dial and decorated spandrels, an applied chapter ring with Arabic numerals and Roman numerals interspersed with fleur-de-lis enclosing a second subsidiary ring, an arched name plaque, and a calendar aperture.  Cove molding separates the waist from the hood. The case door is oblong with squared corners, and a lock with an oblong escutcheon is fixed to the left-hand side.
