The asymmetrical crest rail has a central foliate carving flanked by scrolls facing opposite directions: the left-hand scroll slopes downward and the right-hand scroll curves upward to form the horizontal, molded upper edges of the upholstered back. The foot of the couch, on the left, consists of an upholstered rectangular wing with an overhanging, curved, upholstered arm. The front surfaces of the wing and arm are faced with mahogany elaborately carved in classically-inspired motifs. The head of the couch, at the right, consists of a high upholstered wing with scrolled upper edge. The front surface of the wing is faced with mahogany elaborately carved in foliate motifs. The lowest section of the carving, depicting acanthus leaves, matches a motif carved on the left-hand wing facing. The couch seat is rectangular with a loose, full-width cushion. The front rail of the seat is veneered and has molded top and bottom edges. To either side of the front rail, beneath the acanthus leaf carvings, are corner posts with fielded, veneered panels.
