When opened, the two halves of the tabletop form an octagon; and each half is made from a single board. The fixed top is attached to the frame with screws and glue blocks, and the movable top is attached to the fixed top with two hinges, one on the left and right side of the top. These hinges are not original, however, as there are visible patches where the original knife hinges once were. The fixed top has a stub tenon to hold the two sides flush with one another. The outer edge of the table top is inlaid with a dark string of inlay surrounded by a light stringing on its top and bottom. The front board of the table frame is tenoned to the front legs and reinforced with glue blocks. The angled boards that form the sides of the frame are dovetailed to one another. The rearmost of these boards on the table?ÇÖs left side is half-blind dovetailed to the left rear corner of the full-length rear rail. The stationary rail is nailed to the full-width rail on the right side and tenoned into the right leg. The swing rail is attached to the stationary rail with a knuckle hinge. Each of the frame?ÇÖs sides has a center, inlaid rectangular frame created by strips of inlay that are the same dark and light pattern of the table top edge. Each side has a border along the bottom made from inlaid strips of angled dark and light wood. This pattern is bordered on each side by a strip of light inlay. The table has two, tapered square legs in the front and two in the back. Three legs are tenoned to the frame and one is tenoned to the swing rail. Each leg has a decorative light wood oval frame inlaid at its top just above the angled inlaid band continued from the frame sides. Each leg also has an inlaid, darkwood, upside down teardrop in its center. Each teardrop has a lightwood border. Finally, each leg has an 1 1/8 inch inlaid dark rectangle at its bottom. The legs stand slightly proud of the frame.    There is significant damage to the inside right frame boards and right leg, possibly from insects.
