(61.3 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Chippendale-style, blockfront desk-and-bookcase made with walnut primary wood with red cedar, cherry, white pine, and oak secondary woods.  Surmounting the upper case is a broken-arch pediment and three flame-and-urn finials, two on fluted plinths at the front corners. The cornice is molded and the tympanum is outlined in string inlay, including along the concave insets behind the arched panel doors and fluted pilasters. The doors, which are string-inlaid around the inside of the door, are fitted with locks and butt hinges. Inside is a bookcase section with conforming shell carved recesses above a series of pigeonholes with valances, a central prospect door flanked by pilasters flanked by shelves, and a lower bank of drawers with knobs. Below the doors are knobbed pull-out shelves. The lower section consists of a slant-front with a shaped escutcheon and keyhole and is outlined in stringing. The interior has pigeonholes with valances above two layers of drawers with knobs and stringing and a central prospect compartment with a draw and pilasters. The fall-front lid is inlaid inside. The case holds four blockfront, graduated drawers molded around the edges. The base has quarter-round molding. The feet are bracket.
