Fall-lid opens up into flat surface on which to write. Inside, the desk is fitted with cubbyholes and small drawers with brass knobs, as well as shell carvings. The center shell carving is more elaborate than the other two and is framed by two colonettes. The desk's facade is blockfront with twelve graduated short drawers, three in each row. On the drawers on the left and right sides of the facade are brass mounts and bail handles, whereas an escutcheon is on each of the center drawers.
