The stiles and spindles of the chair are composed of either ash or hickory. The chair has a rectangular back with slightly bent profile. The edges of the tablet on the back of the chair are rounded at the top and sides. The rear stiles are attached to the sides of the seat with two wooden pins on both sides of the seat. The underside of the left stile where the stile curves to join the side of the seat is splitting. The underside of the right stile where the stile curves to join the side of the seat with some additional splitting. The stiles are joined to the back of the tablet with two wooden pins on each stile. Four vertical spindles between the rear stiles. Evidence of a red colored varnish or stain on the spindles, stiles, and tablet of the chair. The trapzoidal seat is composed of two boards with rounded corners. A tongue and groove joint joins the seat boards. An "H"& shaped metal brace on the underside of the seat also serves to secure the seat boards together. The seat resting upon a trumpet shaped iron pedestal. The "H" shaped metal brace is attached to the top of the pedestal with a nut and washer, and the "H" shaped brace is attached to the underside of the seat with flat head screws. The base of the pedestal secured to a white painted wooden board with two flat head screws.
