The upper case consists of a bookcase with eight arcaded, glazed pointed-arch doors separated by reeded piers on projecting, rectangular plinths. Atop the case is a molded cornice with a plain frieze. Behind the cornice is a series of horizontal braces. Four pine panels with beveled edges nailed in place and divided by pine stiles also nailed into place and let into rabbets in the sides constitute the back of the upper case. Above the panels is a horizontal stile dovetailed into the sides behind the cornice. The top case is recessed from the lower case and is divided in three sections, with the middle section raised and consisting of two doors with the flanking sections having one door each. All doors have shaped escutcheons with keyholes, the locks of which may be replacements. The rectangular plinths at the bottom of the piers of the arcade are fronted with lightwood burl and framed by string inlay and between the plinths is burl panels with mahogany cross-banding. Inside the case are remnants of woven green fabric (perhaps silk) beneath tacks on the interiors along with upholstery holes from latter additions of curtains. Fabric lines the interior, which has been fitted with electric lights and glass shelves. The lower case is tripartite with a projecting center section flanked by sections holding single drawers above rectangular cupboards. The drawers have circular back plates with bail pulls and the cupboards have keyholes with small keyhole surrounds. The center section has a secretary drawer, or drawer with fall-front that opens to form a writing surface and reveal inner storage compartments, over a single drawer. The drawers each have circular back plates with bail pulls and keyholes. The secretary drawer front conceals six pigeonholes and two horizontally-aligned drawers with knobs. The pigeonholes have valences. Bead molding outlines the drawer edges and valences. The front and side edges of the lower case top have a band of lightwood and patterned inlay. The bottom of the center section has an arched apron with two of the six legs at either end of the arch. All of the lower case?ÇÖs doors and drawers are veneered with figured mahogany with beading and cross-banding around the edges. The case sits on six tapered, turned legs with ring carvings above cylindrical feet. Four of the feet are at the outer corners of the case; the other two feet are beneath the stiles that separate the three sections of the case front."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"10/17/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Inscribed in pencil on the back of the drawer in the left section: [R].
