A ball-and-spire finial mounted to a plinth crowns the drum head featuring a dial face with Roman numerals, a minute and a hour hand, and a winding hole enclosed behind the dial door. The face is inscribed: [Sawin and Dyer / BOSTON].  Flanking the throat are brass side arms. Around the border of the throat is block and spiral molding. The throat tablet is painted with flower and triangle designs. The pendulum box has matching frame molding as the throat. The tablet features a painting of a bucolic scene of a house or building on a hill surrounded by trees beside a lake and a few people in the foreground.
