A cove-molded pagoda top surmounts the hood with three ball-and-spire finials mounted to plinths at the front two corners and central. Blind fretwork against velvet fabric decorates the central slope of the pagoda as well as the frieze below the arch and above the door. At the front corners of the hood are smooth, free-standing columns. The glazed door has an astragal top and a shaped escutcheon on the left side. The door opens to reveal a composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring, Roman numerals indicating hours and Arabic numerals indicating minutes, pierced and scrolled minute and hour hands, applied cast brass ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and an applied name boss engraved: [Gawen / Brown / BOSTON]. Inside the chapter ring there is an applied seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and winding holes.  Cove and beveled molding around the base of the hood gives way to the trunk. The trunk has a hinged door with an astragal and flat top and concave corners on the bottom. On the left side of the door is a shaped escutcheon and keyhole.  The base has ogee molding at the top, stepped molding at the bottom, and a central drop pendant.
