The lid has banding outlining the edges, an inlaid eight-point compass star at the center, and an urn-shaped keyhole surround at top center. The writing area is supported on lopers with round metal knobs. The case has four graduated drawers with urn-shaped escutcheons, bail pulls, a stringing outline, and cock-bead molding around the edges. The top drawer sits between the lopers. Quarter-round molding forms the top of a narrow, straight skirt.
