(36.2 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Mahogany, marble, and mahogany veneer Federal-style side table with American tulipwood and white pine as secondary woods. The tabletop is rectangular, framing a fixed piece of marble at the center. There is a hole at each corner of the marble visible from the underside. The top has overhanging edges at all sides terminating in a nailed half-round molding. The tabletop is nailed to the frame. The table frame is also rectangular, and the veneered pine boards are mortise and tenoned to mahogany corner blocks. The frame holds one central drawer with a false drawer front on the back. One of the wooden pulls for the false drawer front is broken. The bottom edge of the table frame is surrounded with a glued bead molding that is missing from the left side. The legs are mortise and tenoned to the underside of the frame. The legs are columnar and turned with an outward tapering reeded cylinder followed by urn and spool shaped elements, all flanked by decorative rings. The legs are attached to rectangular plinths on either side of the table. One turned stretcher extends between the two plinths, decorated with three rings on each side of a swelled central element flanking a central ring. Below the plinths, four sabre legs terminate in brass paw castors. An applied scroll with five rounded projections is glued to the tops of these sabre legs, the design continuing down their front faces with a triple bead molding. Both the front and back left scrolls are missing.  The drawer is faced with horizontal veneer with a bead molding around the outside edges. It has two wooden knobs. The false drawer front is identical. The drawer sides are full height and constructed with nailed strips on the underside and sides. The drawer bottom has grain running from side to side and chamfering at the front and sides. It is let into a groove at the front and sides and nailed to the underside of the back. Two notches are cut at the back of the drawer bottom. The drawer is lined with red fabric. The drawer rests on runners nailed to the interior sides of the table frame.
