The top of the case has mahogany edge banding on the front and sides, and a strip of mahogany inlay, 0.375 inches wide, running along the side edges, inset approximately one inch from the side. The case sides and back are frame and panel construction with mortise and tenon joints. The back is made of four panels with vertical grain that match the arrangement of the four doors on the front. The case bottom has two boards with grain running from side to side with an ogee base molding nailed to the front and sides. Escutcheons, pulls, hinges, latches and locks appear to be original to the piece. There is evidence of the mill sawing on the interior glue blocks, as well as modern screws. The case is made in two pieces: The top section contains the drawers and the lower section the cupboards. Circular mortises cut into the corners of the bottom of the top section align with circular tenons projecting from the corners of the top of the base.    The drawer fronts are faced with figured mahogany veneer and are edged with an applied mahogany molding that also extends out to form a bead around the drawer front. The drawer sides are full height and the drawer bottoms are made of two boards with the grain running side to side. Drawer bottoms are chamfered at the front and sides and bear sawyers marks and plane marks on the underside. The drawer sides are joined to the back using hand-cut dovetails. The sides and front are joined with half-blind hand cut dovetails. The drawer bottoms are let into a groove in the front and sides and nailed to the underside of the back. The drawers rest on runners (replaced) that are glued into the case. The top front rail and vertical dividers bear scribe lines for mortise and tenon joints.    The two panel-framed inner doors are solid mahogany; the two outer panel-framed doors have vertical veneer applied to the door fronts. The doors have an applied molding that extends to form a bead around the door front. The outer doors are decorated with half-column turnings applied to both stiles.    There is a single, fixed shelf in the center section made of stained white pine, with a mahogany strip applied to the front edge. There are two shelves in the left section made of stained white pine faced with mahogany strips. There is a single shelf behind the right door of white pine faced with a mahogany strip. The space beneath has a single vertical divider of white pine faced with a mahogany strip. Two tall narrow drawers are fitted into the spaces. Each drawer has a single side-to-side divider.
