(48.6 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Empire-style side chair constructed of black walnut and ash. The chair has a rectangular back with a curved profile. The tablet crest rail has a central, raised, oval panel of veneer within the face of the tablet. On the front, left side there is a second board in the tablet construction, which has been cut on a diagonal. There is one slat under the tablet. The rear stiles are continuous with the back legs and joined to the seat rail. The framed, trapezoidal seat is constructed with mortise and tenon joints. Fixed, modern, yellow upholstery. The exterior of the front and sides of the seat are veneered and have a molded profile. There are four corner blocks screwed in place with their original screws. The front legs are straight, turned, and reeded, while the back legs are sabre legs. All the legs are attached with mortise and tenon joints. The front feet are turned and tapered. Dust cover and upholstery prevented catalogers from full examining the seat. There are repairs on each side of the back with more extensive breaks on the right leg. There is tear out/wood loss at the front left leg.
