Surmounting the hood is a sarcophagus top: a battered pediment with s-curved sloping and a flat top supporting a ball-and-spire finial mounted on a plinth. Two additional finials complete the cornice at the front corners of the secondary base panel. The top molding of the hood takes a cyma-curved and half-hollow profile.  In the tympanum of the hood, above the molded and arched dial, is blind fretwork. The dial door conforms to the arch. At each corner of the hood are engaged columns and on the sides of the hood are sidelights.  The composite brass dial has engraved boss reading: [Ben Bagnall / Boston] and spandrels in the lunette. The dial door features an applied chapter ring, secondary applied ring, calendar aperture, and a time/strike mechanism. The clock face denotes time via Roman and Arabic numerals designated by hour and minute hands, .  Cavetto waist molding separates the hood from the case. The hinged case door is veneered and molded, in an oblong shape with squared corners. The base is molded and veneered and supported by bracket feet."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/20/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Engraved boss: [Ben Bagnall / Boston]."},{"label":"Materials","value":"Black walnut; Maple; Beech; Cedar; Fir; Brass; Glass"},{"label":"Style","value":["Queen Anne"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range provided by DAPC staff, 1967, and maintained by the current owner, Dallas Museum of Art as of 2008."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1730 - D:00 M:00 Y:1745"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Boston indicated by engraving."},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Boston, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Basis of Maker Attribution","value":"Engraved by maker."},{"label":"Maker","value":["Bagnall, Benjamin, Sr., clockmaker, 1689-1773, active about 1710-1760"]},{"label":"Other Name","value":"Long case clock; Grandfather clock; Grandfather's clock; Longcase clock; Tall clock"},{"label":"Object Type","value":["Clock"]},{"label":"Object Use","value":"Household accessories"},{"label":"Category","value":"Furniture"},{"label":"Title","value":"Tall case clock"},{"label":"Date Modified","value":"7/20/2018"}],"description":"Tall case clock","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/1528ec8f-943a-401b-8bc0-d7f0faa21011/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Tall case clock","height":1500,"width":1009,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/1528ec8f-943a-401b-8bc0-d7f0faa21011/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/1528ec8f-943a-401b-8bc0-d7f0faa21011","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1500,"width":1009},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/1528ec8f-943a-401b-8bc0-d7f0faa21011/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/1528ec8f-943a-401b-8bc0-d7f0faa21011/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/1528ec8f-943a-401b-8bc0-d7f0faa21011/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/logo"}
