The top is flat and overhangs the sides; the edges are inlaid with narrow banding. The two tambour doors have narrow reeds and round wooden knobs and are separated by a cabinet door. The cabinet door is bordered by banding and stringing and has a keyhole with no surround. Flanking the tambour doors are inlaid pilasters made of different colors of banding and stringing, with molded capitals and bases. The upper case attaches to the lower case with shallow ogee molding. The top of the lower case folds out to create the writing surface; the lid supports have cock-bead molding around the front edges and round metal knobs. The posts of the lower case have bellflower inlay with two single-piece flowers and marquise-shaped drops; the stringing outline dips at the top to meet the flowers and is arched at the bottom. The bottom edge of the case is bordered by banding. The two drawers have cock-bead molding around the edges, a stringing outline with concave corners, shield-shaped inlaid keyhole surrounds, and rope-twist ring pulls on round escutcheons with stamped medallions in the center.
