Light wood stringing outlines the inner and outer edges of the front of the shield-shaped back. The yoke-shaped crest rail is divided into equal sections by three shaped, pierced slats that join a light wood, sand-shaded fan set into the lower corner of the shield. The flat slats are shaped like spindles surmounted by tassels. The slats flare at the crest rail. Light wood, sand-shaded ovals are inlaid in the centers of the spindles; the slats are pierced on either side of the oval. Rear stiles, which are continuous with the back legs, meet the outer edges of the shield midway up the sides of the shields. The stiles curve inward slightly at the top. The front edges of the stiles are outlined in light wood stringing. The trapezoidal seat has a serpentine front edge and slightly convex side edges. The seat is upholstered over the rail. Decorative brass nails outline the bottom edges of the seat rails. The two front therm legs are outlined in light wood stringing, which arches at the top. The chair has rear stump legs. Rectangular side, medial, and rear stretchers support the legs.
