(259.1 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Chippendale-style eight-day movement tall case clock made of mahogany.  A beveled and cavetto-molded pediment with a pagoda top surmounts the hood. Three upside down chalice-and-flame brass finials mounted to plinths are positioned at the front corners and central on the pediment. A trapezoidal panel of foliate relief carving decorates the central point of the tympanum. The hood has a molded arch above a conforming panel of foliate relief carving. Just below the arch is the hood door, which is molded and has an astragal top that conforms with the pediment. The door has a shaped escutcheon with a keyhole on the left side. At the front corners are free-standing, fluted columns with brass mounts. At the back corners are quarter columns and on the sides are arched sidelights. On the left-side of the door is a keyhole surround; the door opens to reveal the composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring. The dial denotes time via Roman and Arabic numerals and pierced and scrolled hour and minute hands. In the lunette is an engraved boss: [Gawen Brown / BOSTON]. The spandrels are decorated with applied cast ornament. Inside the chapter ring is an applied seconds dial, below which are winding holes. Cavetto molding outlines the base of the hood.  The hinged case door has an astragal curved and flat top and molded edges, as well as a shaped keyhole surround on the left side. Flanking the doors are fluted, quarter columns with mounts.  Cavetto molding outlines the top of the base. The bottom of the base has stepped molding and a three-pronged pendant drop.
