The headboard has a bell-curve-shaped crest rail with rounded edges and a line of half-round molding along the center of the top. The front surface of the headboard has a large applied panel of maple with a conforming top profile and ogee molding applied around the edges. The headboard is framed by two posts joined perpendicularly to the sides. Each post has a rectangular base with an applied border of decorative molding below a tapered vasiform section terminating in a diamond-shaped top. The front edges of the posts are beveled and a large, turned wooden button is applied to center of the diamond top.    The footboard is shorter than the headboard and has a similar but shallower bell-curve-shaped crest rail with the same molding. The footboard also has a large, applied maple panel on the exterior surface that conforms to the shape of the crest rail. The exterior face has applied decorative molding outlining the upper section around the maple panel and a lower rectangular section. The footboard is joined to two rounded, bracket-shaped posts with stepped ogee molding around the bases and top molding that matches the crest rail on the footboard. The exterior faces of the posts have a central inscribed design of geometric and floral shapes.    The headboard and footboard are joined by long side rails that fit into notches on the edges of the posts. The rails have sloped serpentine carving on the top surface at either end where they meet the posts and a straight profile across the center. The lower rectangular section of the rails is outlined with applied decorative molding. The modern bedding surface is supported by four slats running horizontally between the side rails. The slats fit into notches on the interior bottom edge of the rails and there are empty slots for three additional slats.
