Upper case: The top of the upper case is composed of seven boards forming a framed construction. One board runs horizontally to cover the top while two boards run vertically above it, supporting a framed Grecian molding, which is built up around the front and sides. The top boards are attached with screws. Below the molding, a plain veneered frieze extends around the front and sides. The sides of the upper case are composed of single boards with squared edges. At the front edges are squared, flat, applied, veneered columns with brass columnar moldings at the capitals and plinths. The case back is panel framed in three sections and attached with screws. The upper case has three doors, and it is separated into two interiors by one vertical divider faced with double bead molding flanked with incised lines. The right and center doors open to the right interior, which is larger, while the left door opens to the left interior. The right and left doors are attached to the case sides with hinges, and the center door slides to the left on a grooved track in the top and bottom rails. The doors are panel framed with nine glass lights arranged in rectangles and topped with Gothic curved elements. The individual lights and the rectangular glass panels are surrounded by Grecian mullions. Nails at the interior tops and bottoms of each door and bits of fabric indicate a previous decorative textile covering. The right and left hand doors have beaded brass astragal moldings, locks, and keyhole surrounds. Eight height adjustable shelves, four in each interior, are fitted inside of the upper case with saw tooth strips glued and nailed to the corners of the case sides and dividers. Support runners are inserted into the structure below each shelf on either side. The shelves are faced with concave mahogany strips with incised lines at the edges.    Lower case: The lower case top is composed of a single board with overhanging edges at the front and sides terminating in an applied half-round molding. It is screwed to the top case from the underside. The sides are panel framed with squared edges. At the front edges are squared, flat, applied, veneered columns with brass columnar moldings at the capitals and plinths, paralleling the columns on the upper case. The case back is panel framed in three sections and attached with screws. A plain veneered freeze with projecting blocks at the corners touches the floor at the case bottom. The lower case houses three adjacent drawers at the top and two interior sections below separated by a vertical divider.    The drawers are faced with horizontal veneers. Each drawer has a lock, keyhole surround, and two foliate brass knobs. The left and right hand drawer fronts have overhanging edges at their exterior sides in order to cover the case front. The drawer sides are full height and constructed with fine dovetails. The drawer bottoms are single boards with grain running from side to side and chamfering at the front and sides where they are let into grooves. The drawer bottoms are also nailed to the underside of the backs. The drawers rest on full depth dust boards and drawer guides are nailed at the top edges of the case sides and dividers. The top front rail is screwed to the lower case top and two vertical dividers are attached with sliding dovetails. The dividers and rails are faced with veneers. Large drawer stops are nailed to each bottom front rail.    Paralleling the doors on the upper case, the lower case has three doors, and it is separated into two interiors by one vertical divider. The right and center doors open to the right interior, which is larger, while the left door opens to the left interior. The left and center doors could not be opened as the left hand door was locked. The right and left doors are attached to the case sides with hinges, and the center door slides to the left on a grooved track in the top and bottom rails. The left and center doors could not be opened as the left hand door was locked. The doors are panel framed, and their central recessed panels are faced with vertical veneers. Two height adjustable shelves are fitted inside of the right interior with saw tooth strips glued and nailed to the corners of the case sides and dividers. The shelves rest on the case bottom.
