(45.4 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Federal-style square-back side chair made of mahogany, one of a set of five.  The chair back has bead molding along the front edges. The top rail is slightly curved. The chair back has a central pierced lattice panel of six crossed stiles with double bead molding along the front surfaces. The crossed stiles are flanked by vertical stiles, also with double bead molding. At the three intersections of the stiles are applied ornaments of two petals cinched by horizontal nodes. The top of the panel, which projects just slightly above the chair back, has relief-carved flowers where two of the crossed stiles meet and relief-carved half-flowers where one crossed stile meets one vertical stile. The trapezoidal seat is upholstered over the frame. Under the seat, on the rear rail, is inscribed with chalk: [Fisk]. The two front therm legs have molding along the exterior-facing surfaces. The two rear legs cant back. Two side stretchers, a medial stretcher, and a rear stretcher support the legs.  At one time, at least one chair in the set was fitted with castors.
