(76.2 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"A Federal-style tambour desk and bookcase constructed of mahogany and satinwood with pine secondary wood. The pediment has a central light wood veneered panel surrounded by wide light wood banding, surmounted by narrow half-round molding; the pediment curves from the top of this panel down to small block plinths on the front corners. The upper case has cove molding at the top and bottom and two cabinet doors with diamond-paned windows and inlaid dark wood kite-shaped keyhole surrounds; the interior of the case has two adjustable shelves with cock-bead molding along the front edges. The middle section has inlaid banding along the upper edge. The two tambour doors have narrow reeds, inlaid dark wood kite-shaped keyhole surrounds, and round metal knobs; the edge pieces have a stringing outline which is convex arched at the top and concave arched at the bottom. The doors are flanked by panels with a figured veneer center, wide light wood banding border, and cock-bead molding around the edges. The lower case has an angled lid, which folds down to create the writing area, bordered by wide light wood inlaid banding and cock-bead molding; the lid supports' ends are veneered with the same wood as used in the banding and have cock-bead molding around the edges and round metal knobs. The front posts of the lower case have a stringing outline with a convex arched top; striped banding borders the bottom front edge of the case. The three graduated drawers have wide light wood banding and cock-bead molding around the edges, inlaid dark kite-shaped keyhole surrounds, and bail pulls on oval escutcheons.
