The hood has a door with a keyhole to the left. The door opens to reveal a composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring with Roman numerals indicating hours and Arabic numerals indicating minutes. Applied cast ornament decorates the spandrels and lunette. An applied silent-strike mechanism is in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring are a seconds dial, winding holes, a calendar aperture, and a name plate. The base of the hood has cavetto molding. Applied to the left side of the hood is a plaque with illegible text.  The case has a rectangular door with an oval, glazed peephole. Added to the case are various items for exhibition and interpretive purposes.
