White may have been employed by a large chairmaking firm operated by John C. Hubbard. White and Hubbard are listed separately but at the same address in the 1863 to 1876 Boston Directories. DAPC_1967-1117 is a Windsor stool stamped by both White and Hubbard, evidence of their partnership. According to the DAPC_1967-1117 record, Hubbard worked in Boston from around 1924 until 1861. It was not until 1857 that White's name appears in the Boston Directories, but they were listed at separate addresses until after 1861, suggesting they became partners after that date. Below the crest rail are two slats within which are set four vertical spindles that at center are swelled in an oblong shape, and below that is another set of two slats, within which are three vertical spindles with medial, oblong swelling. Beneath the two sets of slats and spindles is one additional slat above the trapezoidal, framed rush seat. The turned legs are supported with paired side stretchers, a rear stretcher, and a front stretcher with center oblong swell that matches the shape of the slats. The legs terminate in bends, or rockers. Minimally damaged, the chair shows some of the rush weaving has come undone, visible at the front of the chair.
