(100.3 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Mahogany and mahogany veneer Empire-style drop-leaf table with white pine as a secondary wood. When fully open, the tabletop is rectangular with rounded corners. The central fixed tabletop is made of a single rectangular board with a crack at the left edge running from front to back. It has overhanging edges at the front and back faced with an integral quarter-round and bead molding. The table has two rectangular hinged leaves with rounded exterior corners, each composed of one board. A long crack runs from the front to back of the left hand leaf. The tabletop is attached with screws in pockets on the exterior of the table frame sides. There may also be screws on the interior of the frame. Four knuckle hinged supports with cyma-curved edges project from the exterior sides of the table frame to support the leaves. They have carved indentations serving as handles. The table frame has concave short edges and supports a drawer that is stuck inside. The drawer front is concave and faced with horizontal veneer and applied diagonal beaded carving on either side. The drawer seems to be constructed with dovetails and may be reinforced with glue blocks. The bottom board has grain running from side to side with chamfering at the sides. The bottom is let into a groove at the sides and nailed the underside of the back. The drawer rests on runners, and the bottom front rail is dovetailed to the frame.    Behind the bottom front rail, a pedestal block runs horizontally across the table frame, screwed on either side. It is also secured by two nailed strips. The turned pedestal is mortise and tenoned to this central block. The pedestal is urn-shaped and covered with gadrooning flanked by decorative rings. Below a spool-shape at the bottom of the pedestal, a veneered circular block supports the legs. The block, or its veneer, seems to be in the process of splitting. The table has four serpentine legs topped with scrolled carving standing proud of the pedestal. They are attached to the pedestal with sliding dovetails and iron brackets. The top faces of the legs are decorated with triangles of dark wood stringing with ogee top edges. The front right leg is detaching from its dovetail and missing its bracket. The table has four paw-shaped castors.
