The rectangular case top is comprised of a single board and attached to the sides with half-blind dovetails. Each side is made of a single board with squared front edges. A large bail pull is affixed to the center of each case side. An engraved brass mount is affixed to the top center of the slant-front along with a knob, bail pull, and escutcheon. The case back is comprised of four boards arranged horizontally and attached with butt joints. It is nailed to the case top and sides. The case bottom is a single board attached with glue blocks and nails. An applied bead-cove base molding is glued to the edges of the bottom board. The skirt has two ogee carved projections at each front corner and one at the center of either side. The back also has a curved skirt. The case has four bracket feet attached with nails.  The slant-front lid is composed of three boards: one wide board at the center and two thin boards at either side. The top edge is beveled inward. When open, the lid sits on lopers that extend from either side of the top drawer. The desk's interior compartments sit atop a fixed shelf edged with double bead molding. The desk has space for five interior drawers; the leftmost drawer is missing. There are two adjacent drawers on either side, separated from the center section by two prospect doors. The doors are inserts, not attached with hinges. The right prospect door is stuck in the case interior. The center drawer is smaller than the other four. Above the drawers are nine pigeon holes: four on each side and one at the center. An ogee curved and notched decorative hood is inserted above each pigeonhole.  The interior drawers are faced with solid wood with lion?ÇÖs face pulls. The sides are full height and dovetailed at the front and back. The drawer bottoms are composed of a single board with grain running from front to back. They are chamfered and let into a groove in the front and sides and reinforced with nails at the underside of the front and back. The drawer rails and vertical dividers are faced with bead molding and let into grooves, and the drawers rest on full dust boards.  The four exterior drawers below are graduated with a narrower drawer at the top to accommodate the lopers on either side. The drawer fronts are solid wood. The sides are full height and constructed with dovetails. The drawer bottoms are each composed of two boards that are chamfered and let into grooves at the fronts and sides. The bottoms are nailed into the undersides of the fronts and backs. The upper drawers rest on runners and the bottom drawer rests on the case bottom. The runners are nailed to the case sides.
