A brass ball-and-eagle finial mounted to a curved trapezoidal plinth surmounts the drum head. The circular head has a hinged glass door and a bezel fixed with a locking mechanism. The dial has Roman numerals and pointed and scrolled hour and minute hands.  The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel framed with gilded twist moldings. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks at the corners of the throat. The panel is painted with a foliate design against a dark background, outlined in a painted frame, and set against a white field. Brass sidearms flank the throat.  The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel framed with gilded twist moldings. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks at the corners.
