Throughout my thesis I focus on how the United States and Britain viewed Black people as economic tools to help save their suffering economy during post war periods. However, Black people were proactive in creating a better life for themselves within the western economy. By finding community, building families, as well as contributing to western society. I believe it is noteworthy to compare the ways in which Black people in both societies used their geographical shift as an opportunity to achieve economic mobility and form black communities. In both the American Northeast and British cities Black people faced severe discrimination, however they were resilient. Harlem and Brixton both had a diverse Black population, I believe the comparison of Brixton and Harlem will exemplify how powerful Black communities were during these geographical shifts.
